The History of Doğadan

In 1975, pharmacist Nevzat Karpuzcu spearheaded a transformative initiative to introduce herbal teas in teabag form through pharmacies. Importing Turkey's first teabag packaging machinery from Germany in 1975, he established Doğadan, manufacturing the very first teabag in Turkey.

In 1985, Doğadan was officially registered as a trademark, expanding its pharmacy retail presence. By 1994, the brand introduced its teabags to supermarket shelves across the nation, and in 1999 launched the country's first domestic herbal slimming tea blend.

Health, Quality, and Flavor Combined

Traditional tea-brewing habits in Turkey evolved dramatically during the 1990s as consumer interest shifted toward convenient, high-quality teabags. Nevzat Karpuzcu's pioneering enterprise marked a pivotal milestone in Turkey's beverage landscape, introducing a brand-new consumption category to millions of tea enthusiasts.

In the 2000s, Doğadan continued innovating with new blends, introducing Turkey's first specialized children's herbal teas in 2001. During this decade, herbal and fruit infusions recorded annualized growth rates of nearly 30%, driven by Turkey's young, dynamic demographic. Expanding internationally, exports soon represented approximately 15% of the company's total annual turnover.

Acquisition by The Coca-Cola Company

In 2007, recognizing its dominant market leadership, Doğadan was acquired by The Coca-Cola Company. Under Coca-Cola's stewardship, Doğadan accelerated its portfolio expansion with an average of 10 new product introductions annually, multiplying sales volumes significantly.

Entering the black tea segment in 2008, Doğadan introduced Earl Grey in 2009, the Traditional Black Sea series in 2010, and the popular Magic Pouch ("Büyülü Bohça") collection in 2011. Over the subsequent decade, sales volumes expanded sevenfold while revenues grew fivefold. Guided by its trademark motto "Do yourself a favor," Doğadan remains Turkey's gold standard for tea quality and natural well-being.
